Spring Wedding Trends We're Loving

While shoulder season here in Vermont is often referred to as Mud Season, it also means that Spring is right around the corner. March, April, and May can often be seen as dreary, muddy, and the perfect time to focus on warmer, summer days ahead, but we find that here at Mountain Top Resort, it’s one of the most underrated times of the year to get married. With many seasonal venues closed until Mid-May, it is the perfect destination for a truly intimate New England wedding.

These are a few of our favorite spring-based wedding trends that made even mud season feel just like summer.

Embracing Maple Syrup Season

Early spring in Vermont brings freezing nights and thawing days, the perfect weather for maple sap to flow from trees. March and April are specifically known for this, although it can start as early as late January based on weather conditions. March in Vermont brings Maple Syrup Open House weekend, which can be celebrated just down the road from Mountain Top Resort at Baird Maple Syrup Farm, a local favorite (that you can even find in our gift shop!) that hosts tourists and locals alike over the course of a weekend with tours, syrup samplings, and more.

While we see plenty of wedding favors year-round, maple syrup guest favors feel extra special this time of year. From nips to leaf-shaped bottles to flasks, the styles are endless, and the syrup is always delicious. What can we say, we’re a little biased.

Maple Syrup….Continued (in Cocktails)

Suckers for a good cocktail, the perfect add-in for that extra touch of Vermont has always been to add a little maple syrup. While a spring wedding can seem overwhelming – the potential for rain, dreary skies, and florals may not be 100% - the perfect drink can add just the right amount of warmth to the day.

Our favorites? A maple-inspired old-fashioned, or a maple Manhattan are great complements to something a little more spring, like a spritz. If you’re planning those signature cocktails, these are our top picks.

Something Borrowed, Something Blue

And by that, we mean, mainly blue. While blooming, colorful florals are still trending for 2026, we find that spring weddings include a large number of tulips and hydrangeas. There’s just something special about the dainty feel these florals give on the table, even in a bouquet of wildflowers.

It’s the perfect touch of New England while still keeping your tablescapes and reception space sophisticated and delicate.

If florals aren’t your thing, your linens are the perfect opportunity to add a little bit of color. While there may be hundreds of variations of white, nothing says New England wedding like a pop of blue on the table, no matter the form.

Your Outdoor Ceremony – In Any Season

When the views are this good, any season is the right time to tie the knot. Shoulder season and spring weddings, however, give you a perfect clean slate to customize your outdoor ceremony.

Mountain Top Resort is known for its outdoor ceremonies (in nearly every weather condition!), and spring weddings are no different. Decorate your arbor with bright florals to bring a little bit of spring to your guests, or play off the moody views with something more monochromatic – we love both equally.

It’s safe to say we have a soft spot for our shoulder season, but more importantly, we love our tried and true trends that keep coming back in the spring. No matter the aesthetics, the weather, or the color theme, the Vermont Green Mountain backdrop is sure to make your special day extra special.
