Situated in the midst of Vermont’s Green Mountains, The Mountain Top Inn & Resort offers guests an array of outdoor summer adventures for all ages and interests. Whether you want a family adventure, a brand new experience or a solo day on the lake, you’ll find that summer activities at the Resort are never-ending.
The heated outdoor swimming pool adjacent to The Barn is open weather permitting from June to September; hot tub is available year-round.
Our Private Beach is located less than a mile from the Main Lodge. At the beach guests will find complimentary kayaks and canoes available on a first come, first serve basis, from 9AM – Dusk. Life jackets are in the beach shed and are required. Lounge chairs are provided; beach towels can be signed out at the Front Desk.
Paddleboards at the Beach. Stand Up Paddleboarding is a relatively new paddling sport. The paddler stands up on a board similar to a surf board or a windsurf board. The paddler and the board are propelled across the top of the water by the use of a long single-bladed paddle. Our paddleboards are complimentary for Resort guests.
PONTOON BOAT RIDES
A scenic pontoon boat ride around the lake, approximately 1 hour long, lets guests enjoy the relaxing tranquility of the lake. Watch for Vermont wildlife and delight in the natural beauty. Rides are offered daily. Reservations are required. Guests will meet the driver at the dock. Cost is $20 for guests 12 and older, $10 for guests 4 to 11 years of age, 3 years and younger are free. Ask about prices for private rides and rides with wine and cheese.
Fishing Boat Rental - Our small boat is suitable for up to 4 passengers, and equipped with an electric trolling motor. Cost is $25 per hour. Advance reservations are required. Only available for fishing activities. Note: Anyone born after Jan. 1, 1974, who operates a motorized vessel in Vermont is required to carry a Vermont Boating Safety Education Certification Card. Fishing Equipment Rental - Rental includes two rods and a tackle box with an assortment of lures. Cost is $20 per half day, $30 per full day. Additional rods are available at $5 per rod. Kid's Fishing Pond - Located a short walk from the Activity Center, our Kid’s Fishing Pond is recently stocked and available for guests who are 14 and younger, while accompanied by an adult.
Our newly designed 9 hole course takes advantage of the open meadow space, adjacent woods, spectacular views and finishes just a few steps from the Mountain Top Tavern. Cost is $10 to rent our discs and play the course. Discs are available at the Activity Center.
CLAY BIRD SHOOTING
Lessons are offered daily by our experienced staff. We have a maximum allotment of six people per time slot. Minimum age is 15 years old. Cost is $40 per person for 20 shots with instruction. Each additional shot is $2. Guests will meet the instructor at the range, which is located half way down the Beach Road. Reservations are required.
Walking and basic hiking trails for all ages meander through the Resort’s 350 acres and into the Green Mountain National Forest. These trails are shared with our horseback riders, so be careful and aware. For more advanced hiking, visit the Activity Center, where our staff can direct you to the Long Trail, just a short drive away, with endless hiking opportunities for the day hiker, weekend overnighter, and extended backpacker. Regardless of which you choose, let the Chef pack a picnic lunch for you to bring along!
Our Equestrian Center opens Friday, May 22 for the 2015 season for trail rides. Lessons will begin in June. Learn more.
We have one tennis court which is available on a complimentary basis for our guests. Racquets and tennis balls are checked out at the Front Desk.
Our sand volleyball court is located just below the tennis court and is complimentary for guests.
Weekly yoga classes are offered Saturdays from 10AM - 11AM and Mondays from 5PM - 6PM. Cost per class is $10 per person paid directly to the instructor. (Yoga fee cannot be charged to your room.) All skill levels welcome. Mats, straps, blocks and blankets provided.
